Windham | 2 |
With five new starters in the rotation, Windham girl's tennis coach Mike Keshigian didn't have the highest of expectations heading into this year. Safe to say his team proved him wrong. With three freshmen, one sophomore and a junior in the starting lineup, the Jaguars made it to the state title game, but lost to top-seeded Portsmouth 7-2.
"It was a great accomplishment," said Keshigian. "I thought it would be more of a rebuilding year because we had lost five of our six starters from last year."
Windham (15-2) was swept by Portsmouth (16-1) earlier in the season, but the Jags' chances grew when the No. 1 singles for the Clippers tore her ACL last week. But, the Clippers proved to be too much.
The Jaguars got singles wins from Jess Thibodeau at second (8-3) and Carolyn Wang at fifth (8-2).
