It was a record day for more than one Golden Warrior.
Andover’s Alec Pascoe won the 400 hurdles in 54.48, breaking the EMass. Division 1 meet record of 54.61 set by Chris Pullerits of Acton-Boxboro in 2010. It was just short of the Andover High record (54.33) set by former Eagle-Tribune MVP Sean Caveney in 2015.
“This feels amazing,” said Pascoe. “My big problem earlier in the season was I was going out too hard in the first 200. I tried to slow that down, and it paid off. I stayed strong and came out with the big race.”
After he finished the race, teammates were there to celebrate.
“I felt good going in,” he said, “I finished, looked at the clock and it was low-54 (seconds). I was so happy. I didn’t know my teammates were going to celebrate like that, but I love the support.”
Pascoe later took second in the 110 hurdles in 14.79, just behind Acton-Boxboro’s Adam Yang (14.48).
