It was a fantastic season for Pentucket boys tennis, but the postseason run came to an end with a 3-2 loss to Weston in the Division 3 North finals Friday.
“I think this is the best team we’ve had top to bottom in my ten years here,” said Pentucket coach Christian Langlois. “It finishes off a great four years for my seniors. They won four CAL titles.”
Four-year starter Connor Aulson came back to win his first singles match 5-7, 6-4, 6-1, and the Sachems’ second doubles team of Min Bachrach and Liam McDonough won 6-4, 7-5. Cory Foster nearly won at third singles for Pentucket, but was bested 6-7, 4-6.
The loss does end a memorable career for Aulson. The Bentley commit went 27-2 on the year, losing only to Amesbury’s No. 1 and in the North Individual finals to Max Schuermann of Dover-Sherborn.
“I definitely think that when you look at the team results for the past four years, they have a lot to do with the fact that Connor was leading us,” said Langlois. “The other guys were trying to be as good as he was, and that made them better.”
