ANDOVER — Despite a dominate 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles by Courtney Nash, two-time defending Division 1 state champion Andover tennis fell to No. 4 Lexington in the Division 1 North semifinals.
"Lexington was a bad matchup for us," said Golden Warriors head coach Alan Hibino. "Tennis is all about matchups and they were a bad fit for us. They beat us in the regular season and now."
Andover and Lexington split the regular season series 1-1. But in the Warriors' victory, Hibino said the Minutemen did not play two of their starters.
Andover's other victory came at No. 2 doubles when Olivia Burns and Kathleen Buck won the first set 6-3 before their opponents retired. Caroline Templer fought at No. 2 singles, losing 3-6, 3-6.
"Courtney had just an amazing season and she is on her way to becoming the most accomplished tennis player in Andover history. We had a great season this spring, and we jsut want to keep the program going the right way."
