 Methuen only sent two wrestlers to this weekend's All-State Meet at Salem High School, but they're both in today's semifinals.

Division 1 state champ Billy Wehring advanced to the 120-pound semis against Sandwich's Greg Zaw with two pins while sophomore Darius Franklin had a pin and 14-3 major decision to reach the 170-pound semifinals.

Franklin will have quite a test in the semis as he'll face North Andover's Fritz Hoeh, the No. 1 seed. Hoehn had two technical falls Friday, improving his record to 50-0 on the year.

The only other local wrestlers able to reach the semifinals were Pentucket's Josh Wesolowski at 132 and St. John's Prep'sIan Butterbrodt at 220. Wesolowski had a second-period pin and a 14-5 major decision while Butterbrodt, the defneding New England champion had pins in :21 and 1:20 to improve to 54-0 on the year.

Springfield Central, with three wrestlers in the semifinals and two more in the consolation round, leads the meet with 59 points, followed by Lowell (43.5), Arlington and Catholic Memorial (37.5 each).
