Ryan, who scored 18 goals last year, will miss the season because of a shoulder injury. ... The Lancers welcomed nearly the exact same number of candidates (89 versus 90) at tryouts as last year.

Coach Joe McCune (3rd year, 16-19): "I think we have the potential to be a high-scoring team, but we'll have to see how things develop. The main thing we have to work on is consistency. We've looked very good at times (in the pre-season) and not so good at other times."
