Haverhill bounced to a 2-0 lead and held it much of the way behind the fine mound work of Tyler Houde, only to fall to Newton South in the Division 1 North prelim, 6-2.Second baseman Manny Pellot went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI, Brendon Bretton had a double and a runs scored and Jon DelaCruz was
2-for-3 in the season-ending loss for the Hillies. Houde took his
first loss of the season, surrendering two earned runs on four hits with
four strikeouts and three walks.
