Goals from Alex Thomas and Hannah Guzzi in the final four minutes of play broke open a tie game and sent top seed Phillips to a 4-2 victory over No. 8 Milton Academy in Class A quarterfinal play yesterday.
Thomas, a freshman, earned offensive player of the game honors for her timely score, while Guzzi contributed two goals and an assist. Kira Wyckoff got Phillips out front with her first-half marker.
Defensively, junior Piper Curtis of Andover was a stalwart at center back in the victory.
Phillips will host No. 4 Loomis Chaffee in semifinal action Saturday at 1:30 p.m. with a berth in Sunday's finals on the horizon.
