READING — A gallant effort fell short for Pentucket Thursday afternoon in the Division 3 North semifinals.

The Sachems gave favored Lynnfield all it could handle before falling 2-0. One of Lynnfield's goals was kicked in accidentally by a Pentucket player in the first half.

Jake Messier's goal with 30 minutes left in the game was enough to give No. 5 Pentucket a 1-0 victory over No. 4 Watertown in the Division 3 North quarterfinals. 

Pentucket's Ryan Gallagher had two goals and an assist in his team's 3-1 win over North Reading. Ryan Smith scored the other goal and Luke Dickson and Jake Messier each had assists as well.

Pentucket's Ryan Gallagher had a huge game, scoring two goals and tallying three assists as the Sachems beat Ipswich 7-1. Seamus O'Keefe, Chris Husak, Jake Messier, Jake Correnti and Luke Dickson also scored in the win.

Newburyport bounced back from its tough opening day loss to tie archrival Pentucket 1-1 on Friday. Andrew Moreland scored for the Clippers early in the game on an assist from Harry Blackmon, and Pentucket answered with a goal from Jake Messier assisted by Erik Dahlgard roughly 10 minutes later.
