The Scarlet Knights were unable to find the back of the net while allowing a first-period power play goal and an empty netter with 19 seconds left in their Division 2 North semifinal defeat. Joey Daccord had 25 saves for North Andover (16-5-5).

STONEHAM — Normally, in the third period of a tight game, Peter Marfione follows the unofficial high school hockey coaching manual, by shortening his bench and going primarily with his top two lines.

Junior Jake Silk did it all with a hat trick, two assists and some fine defense as North Andover pounded Somerville, 7-0, in the first round of the Division 2 North tourney. Freshman Alex Martino capped the scoring with his first varsity goal and Ryan Sweeney contributed a shorthanded tally. Joey Daccord (11 saves) and Vincent Giovenelli (1 save) combined for the shutout.

Led by a hat trick from Dan Rivet and four assists from Jake Silk, North Andover spread out the scoring in a 6-2 victory over Marblehead to open Newburyport Bank Tourney play. The Knights' third line of sophomores Chris Nigro and Tristan Stewart along with junior Derek Hunter did a fine job shutting down Marblehead's No. 1 line.

NORTH ANDOVER — Even with his front-row seat for the action, the final seconds were a blur even to North Andover goalie Joey Daccord.

Dan Rivet scored two goals and linemate Jake Silk added a goal and three assists as North Andover downed Medford 5-3.

Dan Rivet scored midway through the third to give North Andover the lead, and Jake Silk iced the victory with an empty net goal as the Scarlet Knights handed Lynnfield third third loss of the season, 5-3. Silk scored twice and Dan O'Connor had three assists for the Knights (12-3-3).

Derek Hunter and Dan Rivet each scored two goals while Mike Cusack, Jake Silk and Rick O'Connor each added two assists to help North Andover boys hockey win 4-2 over Amesbury-Whittier. 

Jake Silk, Rick O'Connor and Derek Hunter scored for North Andover, which beat North Reading, 3-1, to improve to 10-2-2.

Rick O'Connor scored three goals and Dan Rivet had three assists as North Andover cruised past Pentucket-Georgetown, 7-1.
