Methuen lost a tough one to Billerica, 47-44, despite a huge game from Amanda Petrow with 19 points and 21 rebounds.

Ashley LeBlanc and Amanda Petrow combined for 36 points and 25 rebounds, each getting a double-double as Methuen upset MVC Small champion Chelmsford, 50-38. Petrow added five deflections, five steals and three assists as her stellar defense got the Rangers running early and often. Becca Costa had eight points and six assists in the victory.

Ashley LeBlanc scored 10 points and grabbed 13 rebounds and Amanda Petrow scored 13 and registered 11 rebounds as Methuen rolled past Whittier, 62-41. Beka Costa added 14 points for the 4-12 Rangers.

 Central Catholic clinched the save of the MVC title with a 65-33 win over Methuen.

HAVERHILL — For 16 minutes last night, the Division 2 Whittier girls looked like a team that was sluggish and a bit overmatched.

Considering it was playing its fifth game in as many nights and were facing a Division 1 opponent in Methuen, it was understandable.

Ally Fazio scored a career-high 23 points as Andover scored a whopping 43 points in the first period on the way to downing Methuen 88-48. Fazio and Natalie Gomez-Martinez each hit four of the Golden Warriors' 15 3-pointers.

Methuen led 19-11 after a quarter but Central Catholic bounced back, outscoring the Rangers 16-3 in the second quarter en route to a 61-42 victory. Gabie Polce (13 points, 9 steals) and Casey McLaughlin (18 points) led the 9-2 Raiders.

Lawrence posted 37 fourth quater points to overcome a 10-point deficit and edge Methuen, 79-77. 

"It was insane," said Lawrence head coach Dan Blouin.  "There was not a lot of defense in the fourth quarter.  I was fun to watch."

Sophomores Abby Galloway-Burke and Amanda Petrow combined for 22 rebounds to lead Methuen past Dracut 60-57. Ashley LeBlanc was saddled with fouls in a game that took two-plus hours but she made the most of her time with 17 points. Alex Levesque was all over the court with six steals and two deflections.

Andover scoring machine Nicole Boudreau hit the century mark as part of an 80-51 pasting of Methuen.

Boudreau, who added 10 steals, 8 rebounds and 8 assists to her gaudy stat line, sank a jumper at the beginning of the fourth quarter for her 21st point of the game, hitting 1,000 points on the nose before leaving the contest.
