Andover can't solve A-B

No. 1 Acton-Boxboro held off No. 8 Andover, 1-0, in the Division 1 North quarterfinals. The Colonials scored in the 11th minute to go ahead for good.

The Golden Warriors had a late chance thwarted by Acton-Boxboro goalie Jessie Wiggins, who made a great save to deny Andover.

Andover beats Billerica

Catherine LoMedico and Satin Zarkar both scored to vault No. 8 Andover past No. 9 Billerica 2-0 in the Division 1 North first round. Jess Morrow and Katelyn Caro each added an assist while Ilana Cohen stood out for the Golden Warriors, who lost to the Indians, 2-1, in the regular season. Andover is at Acton-Boxboro in the quarterfinals. The time and date are TBA.

Dynamic duo paces Andover

Admittedly, Alex Bengston is as outgoing as they come. She's not quite at Jonathan Papelbon's level yet, but she isn't afraid to let loose. Just ask her.

"I talk a lot," she said, "so people know a lot about me." Jess Morrow, on the other hand, works silently. "She directs things quietly," Andover High girls coach Meghan Matson said.

Andover, Central fight to draw

Andover and Central Catholic tied 1-1. Alex Bengston scored for the Golden Warriors while goalkeeper Camille Fantini made 14 saves to preserve the tie. Central's Kelley Mikus scored the goal off an assist from Gia O'Connor. Raiders goalie Nicole Rogers had 12 saves while Adelle Dagher and Alyssa Reilly also had strong performances.

Camille Fantini made 10 saves leading Andover to a 3-0 win over visiting Chelmsford. Jess Morrow scored two goals for the Golden Warriors (4-2) and Alexandra Bengston. Andover defenders Erica Leber and Kelly Driscoll stood out in the win.

Late goals lead to Andover win

Andover broke open a scoreless game with two late second-half goals en route to a 2-0 win over MVC foe Haverhill. Alexandra Bengston scored on a header off a Katelyn Caroa corner kick and Jess Morrow finished a passing sequence inside the Haverhill 18-yard box with an assist to Satin Zarkar. Renee Hamilton also played well for Andover (3-1) and keeper Camille Santini made one save. Haverhill (2-1) goalie Christina Gould had 10 saves in the loss.

LoMedico impressive for Warriors

Catherine LoMedico scored two goals and dished out an assist in Andover's 5-0 shutout of Methuen. The Golden Warriors (1-0) also had goals from Satin Zarkar, Jess Morrow and Katelyn Caro. Andover goalie Camille Fantini made four saves in the shutout. Midfielder Alexandra Bengston also played well for the Golden Warriors, who jumped out to a 4-0 lead at the half. Methuen (0-1) goalie Rebecca Caterino made 12 saves in the loss.
