Frustrating tie

 

Andover's boys hockey had to settle for a 1-1 tie when St. John's of Shrewsbury scored with 30 seconds left after a questionable penalty was called with a minute left to play. Tim Kobelski scored for the Warriors (9-9-2), who nevertheless qualified for the tournament.

Anton Pace and Leo Byers each scored twice and Andover pounded Acton-Boxboro, 10-2. Pace also added three assists. J.J. Quill (9 saves) and Liam Blake (11 saves) split the goalie duties.

Andover wins title

 

Andover's boys hockey team surged past Westford, 5-3, to capture the MVC large title and, by so doing, qualify for the state tournament. Anthony Previte scored the game-winner with 1:43 left to play and Tim Kobelski had a goal and an assist. Jake Brezner had 24 saves for the Warriors (9-8-1).

Sweet revenge

After falling to Billerica earlier in the season, the Andover boys hockey team came out with a different forecheck and outshot the Indians 10-1 in the first period of Wednesday's rematch in an eventual 3-0 win. Steve Ingram scored twice and Jack Brezner had 20 saves in the shutout.
