Avi battles for win

Avi Jonarthanan battled for a tough 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (12-10) victory at No. 2 singles as Andover dealt St. John's Prep its second loss of the season, 5-0. Bryan Hun Htun won No. 3 singles 7-6 (11-9), 6-3 for the Warriors.

Heavyweight battle

The Andover boys tennis team handed fellow power North Andover its first loss of the season, winning 4-1. The Warriors' second doubles team of Justin Gu and Alex Earl won a hard-fought match, 6-3, 6-3. But the match of the day came at third singles, where North Andover's Matt Whidden came back to win a marathon against Andover's Avi Jonarthanen, 4-6, 7-6, 10-5.
