BOSTON — For 40 minutes, the North Andover girls lacrosse team did everything it had to do to win the championship. The team stayed within striking distance and the whole time one had a sense that if one or two breaks went their way, the Scarlet Knights could pull it off.

The North Andover girls lacrosse team continued its run with an 18-5 win over Chelmsford. Abbie Karalis had five goals and an assist to lead the Scarlet Knights in scoring, and Michelle Poirier added four goals and two assists. Sarah Waldrep also nabbed five interceptions and Emily Johns and Kelly Corrigan eached caused two turnovers.

NORTH ANDOVER — This one was over after the first minute.

It only took North Andover's Abbie Karalis 17 seconds to net a goal, and the rout was on from there. The Knights led 3-0 only 73 seconds into the game, as they easily dispatched Revere 17-1 in the first round of the Divison 1 North girls lacrosse tournament. 

With their 17-6 senior night victory over Central Catholic, the North Andover girls capped off an undefeated 13-0 season in MVC conference play. Michelle Poirier had a team-high 5 goals, Abbie Karalis and Colleen Chittick each had three and Courtney Karelas and Julia Morandi both added a goal apiece — all seniors. 

On a night where Abbie Karalis scored goal number 200 of her career, North Andover defeated Andover to clinch the MVC large division. Michelle Porier and Julia Morandi each had four goals for the Knights.

Michelle Poirier and Abbie Karalis each scored five goals for North Andover in its win over Central Catholic. The five-goal performance brings Poirier's season total to 46.

Michelle Poirier scored four goals and Emma Johns and Abbie Cronin led a defense which gave up just one second-half goal as North Andover whipped Andover 15-4. 

In a battle of the Merrimack Valley Conference's two top teams, North Andover girls lacrosse left no room for debate, crushing No. 10 ranked Billerica 18-5. The Scarlet Knights led by five at halftime and then ran away with a 9-1 second half. Abbie Karalis scored four goals and Michelle Poirier had three.

After losing on a late goal to Masconomet last season, North Andover got a measure of revenge on Thursday when Abbie Karalis scored off a feed from Michelle Poirier with 11 seconds left to win 9-8. Poirier led the Knights with three goals and two assists.

Courtney Karelas, with six 6 goals and 5 assists, figured in all but three of North Andover's goals in a 14-3 win over Chelmsford.
