Newton North 9, Haverhill 6 Division 1 East Preliminary Records: Haverhill 13-6, Newton North 14-4

Haverhill boys lacrosse won its program-record 13th game, doubling up Lowell, 10-5. "We're getting hot at the right time," said Hillie coach Andrew Kirkalby as Connor Tufts (nine goals in his last two games), Matt Serra and Nathaniel Vazquez (20 points in the last two) have come through offensively.

With an offense that was struggling to find itself, Haverhill had to lean on goalie Joshua White and its defense and both came through in a 9-6 victory over Malden Catholic. White registered 10 of his 15 saves in the second half in a superb effort. With a team-high five goals, Connor Tufts picked up his 50th goal of the season in the win.

Matt Serra scored three goals and added three assists as Haverhill boys lacrosse won 12-1 over Dracut to qualify for the state tournament.

Strong team play from defenders Curtis Robart, Connor Schneider and Erik Mangrum along with defensive midfielders Josh Dionne, John Rankin, Chance Brady and Pat Fitzgerald shut out Central Catholic over three quarters in Haverhill's 8-3 lacrosse victory. Goalie Joshua White had five big saves in the fourth quarter for the victorious Hillies.

Tyler Stahle scored his first varsity goal and Andover whipped Haverhill, 16-4.

Chance Brady was a commanding 15 for 19 on faceoffs, allowing Haverhill extra possessions and scoring opportunities in a 15-1 lacrosse victory over Methuen. Nathaniel Vazquez (four goals and two assists) and Connor Tufts (four goals), among others, took full advantage of Brady's work.

Josh White made seven saves, including four in the fourth quarter with Haverhill up by just one goal. The Hillies senior led his lacrosse team to a 5-4 victory over Manchester Essex.

Nick DeFusco's goal at the 3:19 mark in overtime put the finishing touches on Haverhill's 8-7 overtime thriller over Lowell. DeFusco charged to the net and made a nice spin move before scoring on a bounce shot.

Connor Tufts scored four goals and Josh White turned in 11 saves as Haverhill won new coach Andrew Kirkalby's debut 8-2 over Tewksbury.
