Hillies bow out

Kayla Pellot carried the offense with 20 points including four 3-pointers, but Acton-Boxboro surged to a strong second-quarter lead and held off Haverhill, 47-35, in Division 1 North first round action. Strong defense from Kelleigh Cokley and Laurel Akuwah helped keep the Hillies within striking distance.

Haverhill 46, Dracut 43

Molly Hoopes recorded a doule-double with 13 points and 16 rebounds as Haverhill topped Dracut 46-42.  Hoopes also had eight blocks. Kelleigh Cokely added 10 to help Haverhill impove to 14-6.

Haverhill did well considering high-scoring Kayla Pellot was out due to illness and starter Hannah Guselli was injured early, but the Hillies fell to Tewksbury, 38-29. Molly Hoopes continued her quiet effectiveness with 17 rebounds and Jessica Cotto led the offense with eight points.

Kayla Pellott and Jessica Cotto made the most of senior night as the two captains combined for 31 points during Haverhill's 43-34 win over Notre Dame of Tyngsboro. Pellott buried four three-pointers and Cotto chipped in with one.

Pellot's last second shot lifts Haverhill

Kayla Pellot hit a buzzer-beating 2-pointer to lead Haverhill over Lawrence, 51-49, on the road. 

Pellot, who netted 19 points, received an inbound pass with 1.4 seconds remaining. She quickly dribbled to the baseline, faked a shot, then took her shot and scored as time expired.

Hot-shooting Hillies

With Kayla Pellot (17 points) and Meghan Wrenn raining in 3-pointers, Haverhill erupted for 29 first-quarter points en route to a 59-27 victory over Mount Alvernia. The Hillies dropped in an uncharacteristic five 3's in the first eight minutes to take a 25-point lead. Molly Hoopes had 12 points and 11 rebounds in the win.
