Goalie Alex Brown "definitely saved the best game of his career for last," said head coach Jim Kelly, turning aside 21 shots and pushing Timberlane into overtime before Goffstown prevailed, 7-6. Mike Canniff was involved in four of the Owls' six goals and "wire to wire playing great," according to Kelly.

Freshman Mark Steele made 17 saves to send the game to overtime, where Mike Canniff ended it with a goal in Timberlane's 10-9 win over Merrimack. Canniff finished the day with with six goals.

What Timberlane coach Jim Kelly anticipated was sophomore Mike Canniff's breakout day, and it came yesterday in a six-goal, three-assist eruption as part of a 14-5 win over Manchester West. Dom LaRosa drew kudos from Kelly for "shutdown defense" in the victory.

Oyster River scored with 2 1/2 minutes left in the game, ending a dazzling two-way goalie duel with a 2-1 victory over Timberlane.

"It was a battle between two great goalies," Owl head coach Jim Kelly said. "It was a back-and-forth game, but the goalies just carried their teams the whole game."

Rob Auer scored the game winner with 1:20 left. He was assisted by Connor Lyons.

Auer, who is in his first year as a full-time starter, netted three goals in all to lift Salem to a 7-6 victory over Timberlane.
