Knights open big

 

North Andover's girls skiing team opened its season with a sweep of its two meets, including 80-55 over rival Andover. Freshmen Maria and Rachel Cavallaro finished second and third individually to lead the way.

Gonya shines at state

 

Nicole Gonya finished second individually in the slalom and third in the giant slalom to pace Pinkerton's girls ski teamto second overall behind Exeter at the New Hampshire state meet.

Knights reign supreme

North Andover won the North Shore League title for the first time since the 2006-07 season, snapping Andover's six-year run of domination. The Knights were led by Jenna Royal (5th overall on the day), Cameron Deery (6th), Juliet McFadden (7th), Emma Callamaro (10th), Emily Colwell (12th) and Hannah Twadelle (13th).

Big ski for Knights

 

North Andover's girls ski team remained unbeaten and defeated Andover for the first time in three years, 77-58. Freshman Cameron Deery continued to impress for the Knights, finishing third in 21.54 on the Ski Bradford course.

Christopher by an eyelash

Kerry Christopher of Andover won the giant slalom in a photo finish over Manchester's Alex Marshall 21.95-21.96. She led the Golden Warriors to the Interscholastic (North Shore League) Meet championship. Andover also got a third from Julia Ganley and a fourth from Sara Faigel. Catie Wolstromer took seventh to lead North Andover.

Bronze for Christopher

Kerry Christopoher was the No. 3 overall skier on the day and she led Andover to a 91-44 win over Manchester Essex. Catie Wolstromer was the North Andover star in a 115-20 romp over Haverhill.

Andover girls second at states

Andover girls skiing surged to a second-place finish at the Mass. State meet, finishing just two points short of Westford Academy for the title.

"We were psyched to be finalists," said Golden Warriors coach Tom Busta. "But it was disappointing.  Two points, that's like the length of a pen. Like a shot going around the rim and out. But a lot of teams would be happy to be where we are."

Warriors go deep for championship

Led by Julia Ganley, Andover placed five of its eight skiers in the top 15 to win the girls Interscholastic meet. Ganley came in third overall followed by Sara Faigel in sixth to spark the title run. North Andover finished as runner-up driven by fifth-place Alyssa Zahoruiko and Allie Roberts in seventh.

Pinkerton takes second

Pinkerton's Laura Moran finished in third place by skiing her two races in a combined time of 57.24 at a New Hampshire eight-team meet. 

Moran's effort helped the Astros girls take second with 364 points.
