The beat continues for the state champion Andover girls swimming team. The defending state champions return the nucleus of last year's squad and now they have added a superb freshman class, several of whom flashed their talent in yesterday's win over Melrose. Frosh Kristin Pettini (200 IM) and Julia Perry (100 butterfly) were individual winners and six freshmen took part on three winning relay teams.

The previous record was set by former All-American Southern Methodist University swimmer Laureen Lazzaretti in 1983 with a time of 1:07.41. Andover won the battle of unbeatens with Chelmsford and won the MVC large division.
