Mike Masse of North Andover ran 16:33 to lead St. John's Prep past Catholic Memorial 22-39 at Bradley Palmer Park in Hamilton. Masse's time was the fifth fastest at Bradley in St. John's history.

Runnerup Owls

Timberlane's boys cross country team finished second in the Seacoast League Meet at Dover High School, trailing only Winnacunnet. Colin Flinn was fourth for the Owls, running 17:28 for 5K, while Lou Saviano, Aidan Kimball and Craig Fram was 6-7-9.

Jason Cox placed fifth (18:07) at Ipswich High (3.1 miles) for Pentucket (2-7). Mark Pigott placed ninth (19:21). Lee House finished 10th (19:25).

The Hornets (5-5) lost a tri-meet to Newburyport (21-32) and Hamilton-Wenham (18-42). Manchester Essex had strong showings from Eric Kimball (6th, 14:58), Ben Girard (9th, 15:16), Leo Daley (13th, 15:31), Spencer Lange (17th, 15:55) and Nate Jermaine (18, 15:59).  

First-year cross country athlete Andrew Buckless placed fifth (18:24) for Triton (5-4) at Bradley Palmer State Forest (3.1 miles). Zach Peabody finished ninth (18:33). TJ Howard placed 11th (18:45).

Jeff Larnard placed second (17:31) for Amesbury (4-6) at Woodsom Farm (2.9 miles). James Parady was third (17:34). Alex Tamburello was fourth (17:45). Peter Seiss placed fifth (17:51).

Greg Englehart finished third overall (14:38) for Newburyport (6-3) at Manchester Essex (2.75 miles). Brian Morse placed fourth (14:45). Sean Hickman was seventh (15:07).

Chris Pietrocarlo had a huge day, breaking 16 minutes (15:58) at the 3.05-mile Pinkerton course. The Astros defeated the rival Lancers as part of the annual Mack Plaque competition.

Brian Cosgrove placed third overall for Triton (5-3) at Georgetown's course. Zack Peabody (18:24) placed eighth. Andrew Buckless finished ninth (18:26). Kenny Mitchell placed 11th (18:47). T.J. Howard placed 12th (18:55).
