The Windham volleyball team raised $500 for autism awareness and also posted a 3-0 win over Souhegan. Brandon Bernyk and Andrew Lowman combined for 17 kills.

Jeyson Henriquez and Christian Mayi both had 10 kills as Lawrence improved to 4-1 with a sweep of Haverhill. Mayi also had five blocks and Henriques led the team in service points and tied Anthony Shoquette with six digs.

Salem holds off Astros for 8th straight title

DERRY — Pinkerton did what very few New Hampshire volleyball teams have done since the sport was sanctioned eight years ago: Make Salem sweat.

While the second-seeded Astros did force the Blue Devils into a fifth game for the first time in Division 1 championship history and the only time this season, Salem once again prevailed for the program's eighth straight state title.

North Finals

Methuen fended off six match points before dropping the epic fourth game in the Division 1 North final. The 10th-seeded Rangers had six game points of their own in the fourth before their magical playoff run came to an end. The senior-laden Rangers were led by Kyle Mansour, Ryan Freeman, Zach Branchaud and Josh Pappas.

Astros come back

An athletic Londonderry squad played "the best we've have all year," according to head coach David Starin, surging to a first-game victory. But Pinkerton made a savvy lineup adjustment and gradually took control, turning the tide for a 3-1 victory and a berth in the Division 1 volleyball semifinals. Justin Scott (16 kills) was strong in victory for the Astros, and Luke D'Urso (8 service points with 2 aces) performed well despite playing with a broken foot suffered three games before.
