St. John's Prep lacrosse team remains unbeaten

The St. John's Prep lacrosse team is off to a hot start. But the Eagles have a barometer game coming up this week that will tell them a lot more about themselves.

Senior attack Mark Scalise collected four goals and four assists as non-league foe Waltham fell 12-6 to the Eagles, who have an unblemished record (4-0). Junior John Jennings contributed four goals and one assist while Tucker Garfield chipped in two goals. Garrett Campbell had a goal and two assists and Jimmy O'Connell contributed a goal. Prep netminder Nick Valenti made nine saves, all in the second half. Brogan O'Connor played solid on defense, said coach John Roy.

Defense carries Masco

Kevin Van Lenten stopped 12 shots and the Chieftains killed off a penalty in the fourth quarter to get by North Andover, 3-2. Conor Cliffe, Sean Gallagher and Ben Santos accounted for the offense, which spotted Masco (4-1) a 3-1 lead. Teddy Reed and Clay Cleveland helped pace an outstanding defensive effort.

Gendreau hits century mark in HW win

Senior co-captain Ryan Gendreau notched his 100th career goal and totaled three on the afternoon to pace the Generals over Triton 11-4. Fellow co-captain Jake Cotter also tallied three scores | marking the third straight game he's recorded a hat trick.

Generals get past Magicians

Three goals courtesy of senior attack Jake Cotter helped the Generals (2-3) bounced back with a 9-5 win over Marblehead. Longpole Corey Daff added a goal and Ryan Gengreau also scored as Hamilton-Wenham led 4-2 at half and gradually increased their advantage after the break. Will Beringer and Jackson Barber had goals for the Magicians.

Pinkerton laxmen drill Keene

Fifteen of the 27 players on the roster recorded at least a point and Pinkerton blitzed Keene 21-2. Bobby Datillo led the team with three goals and four assists, and Teagan Norris backed him up with five points.

Eagles Drop B.C. High

John Jennings notched four goals and two assists to lead the undefeated Eagles (3-0) to a crucial Catholic Conference victory, 11-6 over Boston College High.

Mark Scalise had three tallies for the Prep, which quickly erased a 2-0 hole in the first quarter. From there, the Eagles went on top 4-3 and never looked back. Tucker Garfield, Garrett Campbell and Griffin Cardew also scored.

Nolan's OT Strike Lifts Beverly

Ryan Nolan scored with a minute to play in overtime to deliver a win for the Panthers (2-2), who came from behind to beat Swampscott 5-4. The Big Blue had led 3-1 at the break and saw their advantage erased when Greg Pierce completed his hat trick with under 10 seconds to play in regulation.

Forrest's 21 saves aren't enough versus Lynnfield

The Pioneers held an 8-7 lead heading into the fourth quarter and were able to hold off Bishop Fenwick's rally as the Crusders fell 11-9.

Brandon Ballard, Eamon Barrett, Jordan Mizioch and Mike Buonfiglio all scored two goals for the Crusaders (3-3) whle Pat Doliber added a goal and three assists and Craig Forrest stopped 21 shots in net.
