Strung at the buzzer

Northeast Metro received a free kick with 20 seconds to play and converted for a 1-0 win over Presentation of Mary (1-7-1). Goalie Danielle Riccardi made nine saves to keep the game close throughtout. The Panthers could not convert on 12 shots.

Reggies stay perfect

With continued solid play from Trudy Goetchrus, Rosa Javier and Angie Gonzales, Greater Lawrence girls vollyball extended their winning streak to 10 games over Presentation of Mary (3-8) and remained perfect on the season at 10-0.

Presentation of Mary 1, Notre Dame 1

Huge at 5-foot-3
Sophomore Danielle Riccardi is only about 5-foot-3 according to Presentation of Mary girls soccer coach Kevin Conlin, but that didn't deter her in a 1-1 tie with Notre Dame.
"She saved us several times," said Conlin. "She's pretty small but she was jumping like crazy," said Conlin. "She was just huge for us."

Rallying back

Trailing by a goal in the second half, Presentation of Mary struck twice after the break and downed Mystic Valley 2-1. Stephanie Mitrano and Michelle Thach each scored once to give the Panthers their second win of the season. 

Panthers sweep

Presentation of Mary defeated North Shore Tech 25-23, 25-19, 25-19. Sandy Acosta led the way with eight service points, four aces and three kills. Becky Smith chipped in with seven kills and two blocks as the Panthers improved to 2-1.

Panthers lose heartbreaker

PMA captured six of the top nine places, but Notre Dame took the top three positions and prevailed with a 27-30 victory. Danielle Silva led the way, in fourth, and Samantha Ventolieri came in fifth.

Mitrano shines in loss

Presentation of Mary fell to Lowell Catholic 5-1. Stephanie Mitrano scored the Panthers’ lone goal.

Greater Lawrence downs PMA

Tatiana Perez had two hits, including a three-run homer, and six RBIs to lead Greater Lawrence to a 17-10 win over PMA. According to coach Jay Santomassino, it was the first win for Reggies over the Panthers since the 1988 season.

Newburyport pressure too much for PMA

After winning the Commonwealth Conference Small division, Presentation of Mary had high hopes of a long state tournament run.

Instead, the No. 7 Panthers ran into ferocious Newburyport, which overwhelmed PMA, 49-28, in the first round of the Division 3 North tourney.
