Stepping up on Senior Day

Timberlane's Field Hockey Team celebrated its senior day and senior Shiobhan Lundt made the most of the event by scoring two in the Owls' 3-1 win over Merrimack.

Furey, Hatton lead Timberlane

MERRIMACK, N.H. — Derek Furey felt subpar entering Timberlane’s game against Merrimack, but the Tomahawks never would have known it.

“Before the game, the groin tightened up on me,” explained Furey. “I’d gone to a doctor and got worked on before the game, but he couldn’t do much. I was feeling it pretty much the whole time.”

Fabulous Freshman

The next great Pinkerton field hockey player? That would be freshman Jordyn Hamilton, who scored her fourth and fifth goals of the season in the win over Merrimack. "She's quite a player," said Astros coach Denise Rioux. "She can play four different positions."

Merrimack 3, Londonderry 1

Londonderry fell to Merrimack, 3-1. The Lancers' only goal was scored by Kyle Willis on an assist by Steve Carroll. Aaron Starkman and Craig Gurley had two saves each in the loss.

Merrimack 1, Londonderry 0

Londonderry fell to Merrimack, 1-0, in overtime. Lancer keeper Aly Bermudez recorded six saves. 

Wheeler late goal vaults Pinkerton

Zach Wheeler’s second-half goal gave Pinkerton a 2-1 victory over Merrimack. Omar Khartabil scored the Astros’ first goal and assisted on the second while Alex Germaine also notched an assist for the winners.

Pelham falls despite Porter goal

Despite a goal from Kelsey Porter, Pinkerton fell to Merrimack 5-1. Nicole Cuerdon added the assist for the Astros.

Lancers storm back

Superb serving and consistent pressure allowed Londonderry to overturn a huge deficit and defeat Merrimack, 26-28, 21-25, 25-22, 25-13, 15-13. Katie Schwarz notched a team-high 14 service points and Sara Seaborne was 15 for 15 serving.

Salem nearly pulls off upset

Salem nearly pulled off an upset, falling to defending Class L champ Merrimack, 3-2.

Brian Peltz scored with three minutes remaining in regulation to send the game into overtime before the Blue Devils allowed a goal nine minutes into the extra frame.

Ottaviani Haverhill Invitational Meet

Lawrence's KB Oshodi has been one of Central Catholic's best and brightest track stars. And he has the Raider football program to thank for it.

"In my freshman year, the football coaches wanted to get us to do track," Oshodi explained. "They said it would be good to try and do a lot of different stuff. In the triple jump, in my first year, I was doing better than the varsity guys. I did well and I just continued to improve."
