Behind two scores from Emily Hood and Isabel Rolfe's first varsity goal, Pinkerton rallied back from a two-goal deficit to beat Alvirne 3-2 in the Astros' season-opener.

No. 3 Windham rolled past No. 14 Alvirne 20-3 in the Division II first round. The Jaguars will host No. 6 Winnacunnet on Saturday, 5 p.m.

Joe Packowski won the javelin (145-10) to lead Pinkerton to the team title (80 points) at the Kiwanis Freshman-Sophomore boys Meet. Astro Zack Smith added a win in the 400 (53.43). Earning second-place finishes were Salem's Nick Daigle in the high jump (5-3), Windham's Justin Leppanen in the 110 hurdles (18.53) and Pinkerton's Landon Mackiernan in the 300 hurdles (48.19) and Noah Daigle in the 3,200 (10:27.71).

Salem's Lily Thomas won the mile (5:36.13), one of three local champions at the Kiwanis Freshman-Sophomore girls Meet. Timberlane's Kiersten MacKeen took the high jump (4-10) and Windham's Kelly Wright took the javelin (92-3). Pinkerton's Contessa Silva was second in the 800 (2:28.68).

Shaye Fanning made 10 saves to shut out Alvirne in a 10-0 Timberlane victory on Monday. Kendall Morrill scored five goals and Rebecca Silva added four scores for the winners.

Liam Doyle allowed just one hit, no walks and struck out 11 of the 16 batters he faced in a five-inning complete game as Pinkerton beat Alvirne 10-0 in a game shortened by the mercy rule. Matt Barbuto had a hit and drove in three runs and Jacob Albert had two RBIs. 

Ryan Pacy scored 36 points to carry Salem to a 55-52 win over Alvirne. Phil Melo chipped in with nine points.

Unbeaten Pinkerton whipped Alvirne, 66-41, as Avah Ingalls had 12 points, Liz Lavoie 21 and Sydney Gerossie 14.

Bella Keogh continued to dazzle with three goals — her third hat trick in 10 games — as Timberlane girls soccer held off hard-charging Alvirne 6-3.
