R.J. Warnock pitcheda three-hitter, struck out seven and walked nobody in North Reading's 3-1 victory over Newburyport. 

The one run he surrendered was unearned. He has given up just six walks all season.

Cam Hastings won the pole vault, 200 and ran the anchor of the 4x10 relay as North Reading beat Lynnfield 100-45 to finish the dual meet season 8-0 and take home the Cape Ann League team title for the first time in school history, according to coach Ryan Spinney.

Will Brown scored eight goals for North Reading in a 15-7 win over Ipswich.

R.J. Warnock came through when it counted in North Reading's 4-0 baseball victory over Lynnfield. Trailing by three runs, the Pioneers loaded the bases with no outs in the fourth inning but Warnock (six hits, eight strikeouts) induced an infield fly then struck out the next two batters to crush the threat. Lynnfield also had runners at second and third in the fifth but another Warnock K kept the opposition scoreless.

John Mastascusa won the discus and javelin and Cam Hastings won the pole vault, 200 and ran the anchor of the 4x100 relay as North Reading downed previously unbeated Masconomet 78-67 to clinch at least a share of the CAL team title. They can win the title outright with a win over Lynnfield on Monday.

Backup pitcher Leslie Zewiey had the best game of her career, throwing a sparkling two-hitter with 15 strikeouts and no walks as North Reading (10-4) qualified for the tournament with a 9-0 victory over Ipswich.

With a 9-6 effort in the pole vault, freshman Julia Valenti set a new North Reading record as part of a 91 1/2-53 1/2 track victory over Triton.

With its final six lacrosse games on the road, North Reading took advantage of an early Senior Night to clinch a postseason berth, defeating Pentucket, 12-5. Mike O'Brien led the way for the Hornets with four goals and three assists.

John Braga earned victories in the high jump (6-0), triple jump (40-6 1/2), 400 hurdles (58.5) and 110 hurdles (15.8) to lead North Reading to a 94-51 victory over Triton.

Terri Ferrazzani fired a one-hitter with eight strikeouts as North Reading blanked Masconomet 9-0.
